About the LABBB Family Support and Parent Consultation
| What are home services? | back to top |
Home Services have many parts to them and differ based on the student and the family. For some families, home services include consultation by the behavior analyst to the parents as well as having a direct worker come to the home to put programs into place, helps parent work through challenging behaviors, routines, tasks, help generalize skills from school, and support implementation of behavior plan in the home and community.
| How are home services different from respite? | back to top |
Respite is time when parents get a ?break? and a worker will take the student out into the community, hang out with them in the home, or go with the parent into the community. During home services the parent must be present and are involved during each session. Home service goals are put on the IEP and data is collected as any academic or life skill goal in school.
| How do I determine if our family is eligible for home services? | back to top |
The first step to determining eligibility is to contact your district?s special education department. If appropriate, the department will then make the necessary arrangements with LABBB for a home evaluation.
| What is the home evaluation? | back to top |
The home evaluation is conducted by one of the LABBB behavioral consultants. The evaluation may take between 2 and 4 hours and will include a parent interview and student observation in the home environment. The evaluation may also include school observation and meetings or input from teachers. At the conclusion of the evaluation, the consultant will prepare a written report with his/her observations and recommendations. This report will be sent directly to the district.
| Who provides home services? | back to top |
Your district will determine if LABBB or another agency will provide the home services.
